Shane Stewart
Shane practises in commercial litigation, insolvency, and corporations law. He has advised and appeared in variety of matters in the Supreme Court, Federal Court and High Court, and also in international commercial arbitrations.
His practice covers contract and shareholder disputes, corporate insolvency and bankruptcy, equity and trusts, restitution, building and construction (including security of payment), and regulatory and public law, including competition, energy and resources, and judicial review.
Before joining the bar, Shane practised at Clifford Chance — including in the London office — and Johnson Winter & Slattery. He has been recognised by Best Lawyers Australia in the fields of corporate law, corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions law.
In insolvency, Shane sits on the Insolvency Practitioner Registration and Disciplinary Committees. More broadly, he is a member of the ASIC WA Regional Liaison Committee, the Competition Committee of the Business Law Section of the Law Council, and the Commercial Law Committee of the WA Law Society, of which he is immediate past Chair.
Shane holds an LL.B. (First Class Honours) from Adelaide Law School and an LL.M from the University of Chicago Law School. He was admitted to the New York Bar in 2014.
