Our Chambers

Established in 1962, Bar Chambers (as it was then known) was the first barristers’ chambers in Perth, Western Australia.

Our name was changed to Francis Burt Chambers in 1997 in honour of Sir Francis Burt’s esteemed career and in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the administration of justice in Western Australia.

Sir Francis Theodore Page Burt AC KCMG QC was one of Western Australia’s pre-eminent jurists, having served as a justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and, subsequently, as Chief Justice and later Governor of Western Australia. Prior to holding those offices, Sir Francis founded the independent Bar in Western Australia in 1961 and, with others, established Bar Chambers the following year.

Today, our Chambers are the largest in the city, with more than 140 members serving across a wide range of practice areas.

Our members share the common goal of providing ethical and accessible advice, and remain committed to upholding Sir Francis’s hallmark traits of integrity and independence.
