Michelle Bennett
Michelle is a commercial barrister with a broad practice and a passion for equity, trusts, and deceased estates.
Michelle advises and represents a diverse range of clients on matters spanning contractual disputes, consumer law, property law, family law, trusts, guardianship, deceased estates, and family provision claims. Her clients value her ability to break down complex legal issues and offer clear, practical solutions.
Michelle was called to the Victorian Bar in 2019, where she appeared both led and unled across all Victorian courts and tribunals as well as the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
Since returning to Perth in 2023, she has established a WA-based practice with a particular focus on wills and estates. Michelle regularly appears in the Supreme Court of Western Australia and State Administrative Tribunal along with other State courts and at mediations.
Admitted in 2006, Michelle previously practised in commercial litigation, trade practices, and regulatory law, including roles with Allens, the ACCC, and the Australian Government Solicitor, as well as in boutique private practice advising companies and high-net-worth individuals.
Michelle is an active member of the Law Society of Western Australia’s Elder Law Committee and the Women Lawyers of Western Australia Committee. She is a regular contributor to the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners of Western Australia (STEP WA) Newsletter.
Michelle has been listed as a leading junior counsel in Doyle’s Guide for Wills & Estates Litigation barristers for Western Australia (2025) and as a recommended junior counsel in Doyle’s Guide for leading Wills & Estates Litigation barristers for the whole of Australia (2025).
