Ryan Coffey was called to the New South Wales Bar in 2019. He has a distinctive blend of experience across both civil and criminal jurisdictions.

His principal areas of practice include environment, planning and local government law, work health and safety law, regulatory law, criminal law (including environmental crime), white-collar crime, liability claims coronial inquests and statutory inquiries.

Ryan also has experience in land acquisition compensation matters, merits review proceedings, and disputes concerning disciplinary, employment and public law.

He is an accredited Mediator through the London School of Mediation.

Before coming to the Bar, Ryan worked as a Police Officer, Detective, Prosecutor and in-house civil lawyer. This background provides valuable insight in advising and appearing for individuals and corporate clients (including directors and officers), particularly in matters involving detailed investigations across civil, regulatory and criminal contexts.

Ryan appears in state, territory and federal courts and tribunals across Australia.
