Dr Jared Clements
Dr Jared Clements is a specialist tax barrister with 18 years’ experience across top-tier law firms and academia.
Before joining the Bar, Jared spent more than a decade as an academic at the UWA Law School, teaching taxation, mining and petroleum law in the JD, LLM and MTax programs. He also practised as a lawyer at Ashurst, Allens Arthur Robinson and PwC.
Jared’s practice spans the full breadth of Australian taxation. He has a special interest in mining, petroleum and infrastructure transactions—the topic of his doctoral research. He also advises private clients, high-net-worth individuals and family groups on their tax affairs.
Jared is the author of the taxation of trusts and partnerships chapters in Principles of Taxation Law (Thomson Reuters, 2026), a leading text used in law schools across Australia. He has also published extensively in peer-reviewed Australian law journals.
Jared holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Law from the University of Western Australia. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Murdoch University, where he received the Vice-Chancellor’s Commendation for Academic Excellence for ranking in the top 2%.
Jared is a Fellow of The Tax Institute and sits on the WA State Council, as well as the State Taxes Committee.
