Peter was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in Western Australia in 2003, and to the High Court’s roll of practitioners in 2004. Before commencing as a barrister in February 2015, Peter’s legal career had been entirely with the Crown Solicitor’s Office.

With a strong focus upon litigation, Peter’s practice primarily involves:

  • Commercial disputes, administrative law, and land compensation matters

  • Tribunal matters (all streams)

  • Family law property disputes

  • Appeals from SAT, the AAT and the Magistrates Court

  • Coronial inquests

Peter is known best in the field of planning and environment law.  

His most notable roles as a barrister have been to obtain an order for certiorari from the Supreme Court of Western Australia to quash a development approval: Nairn v Metro Central Joint Development Assessment Panel [2016] WASC 56 (led by Martin Cuerden SC) and to win a cross-appeal to the Supreme Court: City of Swan v West Australian Shalom Group Inc [2017] WASC 217.
