Venetia Bennett
Venetia Bennett accepts briefs across a range of commercial disputes, and appears unled and led before Australian courts and tribunals, and domestic and international arbitral panels.
Venetia is regularly instructed in complex, high value commercial disputes, with particular experience in the sport, construction, and energy and resources industries. She is also experienced with investigations (including workplace safety and employment), regulatory inquiries and prosecutions, coronial inquests and royal commissions.
Venetia brings a strong commercial and strategic focus to any matter with which she is involved. She works effectively on her own or in a team, and enjoys collaborating with co-counsel, instructors and clients to develop and implement legal strategies.
Venetia accepts briefs in all areas of commercial law, including direct briefs from in-house counsel.
Venetia is recognised for her expertise in sports governance and disputes, and is regularly instructed to advise and appear as counsel, as well as to hear and determine internal disputes. She is a Member of the National Sports Tribunal (for arbitration, conciliation and mediation), and has chaired and been a member of numerous disciplinary, grievance and appeals tribunals for state, national and international sports bodies.
Venetia is an independent member of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Executive Committee and chair of the Building Services Board of Western Australia.
Prior to being called to the Bar, Venetia was Special Counsel at K&L Gates.
