Peter McGowan
Peter McGowan is one of WA’s most experienced civil and commercial advocates, having appeared as counsel in hundreds of trials and hearings in the Supreme Court, Federal Court, District Court and State Administrative Tribunal.
Having been a partner in a major firm before he joined the Bar in 1997, Peter has the strength of the amalgam with the refined skills of an experienced advocate.
Peter’s ability to quickly get to the heart of the issue and to provide incisive and commercially astute advice makes him an asset to solicitors for the purposes of both trials and mediations.
From 2003 to 2004 Peter was the inaugural President of the Town Planning Appeal Tribunal (the precursor to SAT).
He returned to the Bar in 2005 and continues to practise in the field of commercial litigation – with particular emphasis on the areas of Planning and Development, Local Government and land resumption and compensation claims under the Planning and Development Act and the Land Administration Act.
