Ilona O’Brien
Ilona has a public law practice specialising in Commissions, Inquests and Inquiries.
She has extensive experience as counsel assisting the Coroner in complex and high profile inquests and the Corruption and Crime Commission in both public and private hearings.
Ilona also has extensive experience in criminal matters in the Magistrates, District and Supreme Courts, with a particular interest in appellate work, having been an inaugural member of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for Western Australia’s Appeals Team.
Before joining the Bar, Ilona was most recently the Executive Director for Legal Services at the Corruption and Crime Commission. Ilona was responsible for a team of lawyers providing legal advice and representation in operational matters, particularly regarding the use of investigative and coercive powers, and in civil litigation.
