Peter Phillips

Peter has more than a decade of experience in criminal law, mainly focused on trials, sentencing and related proceedings in Western Australia.

Peter was a State Prosecutor at the WA Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions from 2016-2025. In that role he appeared in the Magistrates Court, District Court and Supreme Court in WA, and conducted a substantial number of jury trials including complex and serious cases involving high level drug importation, sexual offences, domestic violence and police misconduct.

Prior to this he was a solicitor responsible for management of trial matters at the NSW Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and also spent time as a senior legal officer at the Department of Immigration and Border Protection dealing with civil penalty offences and Departmental involvement in coronial inquests.

His experience means he has a very detailed knowledge of criminal law, police procedure and the law of evidence in Western Australia. He is an accomplished courtroom advocate and has a capacity to conduct thorough and practical assessments of the strengths and weaknesses of defence and prosecution cases.

Peter mainly accepts briefs in relation to State and Federal criminal law and regulatory offences.
