Francis Burt Chambers congratulates Craig Astill on his appointment as a Judge of the District Court of Western Australia.
Mr Astill was admitted to practice in 2002 and has spent his career almost exclusively in criminal law as a trial advocate.
He joined the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in 2003 where he rose to the position of Senior State Prosecutor. Prior to commencing his career as a prosecutor, Mr Astill worked for a large insurance litigation firm specialising in workers’ compensation and employer’s indemnity and public liability insurance.
In March 2021, Mr Astill joined the Bar bringing with him a wealth of experience in criminal law. Mr Astill served on the WA Bar Association Council since 2022 and was recently re-elected for a further term.
