FBC acknowledges its 47th year since the name change honouring Sir Francis Burt

This month marks 47 years since our chambers changed its name from Bar Chambers to Francis Burt Chambers, honouring our founder Sir Francis Burt.

Sir Francis Burt AC KCMG QC was one of the founding fathers of the Independent Bar in Western Australia and went on to become a judge of the Supreme Court of WA, the Chief Justice of Western Australia and, later, Governor of this State.

Changing our name in October 1977 to Francis Burt Chambers honoured his esteemed career and recognised his outstanding contribution to the administration of justice in our State.

Today, his portrait hangs proudly in the foyer of our Chambers in St Georges Terrace.
