Sarah Russell has over 20 years' experience in litigation and has been involved in a wide range of civil, corporate and commercial litigation in Australia and overseas. She has represented and advised clients across a variety of industries, including many leading Australian and international companies, financial institutions and government agencies.

Prior to joining Francis Burt Chambers in 2010, Sarah was a senior associate at Clayton Utz (2006-2010) and Mallesons Stephen Jaques (2003-2006). She also practised in England for several years before moving to Australia in 2003.

Sarah’s principal areas of practice are in commercial litigation, particularly contractual disputes, construction litigation and matters involving the energy and resources sector.

Sarah has extensive experience in bringing and defending complex claims in the Federal and Supreme Courts. She regularly receives instructions in construction matters referred to international and domestic commercial arbitration. She has been involved in disputes arising from major projects across a variety of sectors, including infrastructure, energy and resources and health.

Sarah also advises on competition and consumer matters and is a member of the Competition and Consumer Committee of the Law Council of Australia, Business Law Section. She was Deputy Chair of that Committee from 2010 to 2014.
