Matt Curwood has practised for over 20 years as both a barrister and a solicitor. He regularly appears as counsel in a wide range of cases in the Supreme and District Courts of Western Australia and the State Administrative Tribunal.
Prior to joining Francis Burt Chambers, Matt was the principal of his own legal practice, Curwood & Co Lawyers. In that role he assisted clients in a wide range of litigious disputes and in estate planning. He has a specific interest in wills and estates disputes, with experience as counsel at mediation, trial and on appeal.
Matt has been listed in the 2016 and 2017 editions of Doyle’s Guide as a Leading Junior Counsel in Wills and Estates Litigation in Western Australia, and in the 2017 edition as a recommended barrister in Wills and Estate Litigation in Australia.
Since 2009, Matt has been a member of the Legal Costs Committee, the statutory committee that determines levels of remuneration for legal practitioners in Western Australia. He is a regular presenter at seminars on legal costs issues.
