Profile

Lisa Boston is a highly experienced criminal law barrister with more than 25 years’ experience.  Lisa prosecutes and defends matters in all criminal law jurisdictions in Western Australia.  She accepts briefs from the Director of Public Prosecutions [State and Commonwealth], private firms and  Legal Aid [complex matters]and private firms, for all types of criminal matters.

Lisa regularly appears in complex criminal trials, pleas and contested applications in the Magistrates, District, Supreme and Children’s Courts in Western Australia.  She is also available to provide opinions and representation on appeal.  Lisa has a particular passion for the laws of evidence and the rule of law.

Lisa studied law at the Australian National University and graduated with honours in 1991.  She also has a Master’s degree from the University of Western Australia.  Lisa worked at Blake Dawson Waldron before working for the Aboriginal Legal Service in Kalgoorlie and Legal Aid in Perth.  She opened her own firm in Perth before being called to the Sydney Bar in 2004.  Lisa has been a member of the Western Australian Bar since 2007.

Throughout her career, Lisa has taken a particular interest in mentoring and assisting junior lawyers.  She founded the prestigious Women in Crime Business Group, and in 2018, Lisa was awarded Women Lawyer of the Year for her outstanding contributions to the legal community.
