Liam practises in commercial and public law.
Liam began his legal career at the State Solicitor’s Office, ultimately becoming an Assistant State Solicitor. He maintained a broad practice as solicitor and counsel, working on commercial and public law disputes, regulatory prosecutions and advisory. His work spanned most major sectors, including mining and petroleum, health, education, policing, prisons, agriculture, property, construction and consumer protection.
Immediately prior to joining the bar, Liam was Special Adviser to the Attorney General of WA. In that role, he provided strategic advice to the Attorney General, with a particular focus on law reform, legislation and public policy.
Liam has appeared in the Federal Court, Supreme Court, District Court, Magistrates Court, Children’s Court, Coroner’s Court and the State Administrative Tribunal.
Prior to his legal career, Liam worked in banking, including in roles specialising in dispute resolution and insolvency.
Liam completed a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Commerce at Murdoch University. He holds a Masters of Law from Columbia University (where he graduated as a James Kent Scholar) and a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford. Liam is admitted to the New York Bar. He has volunteered at a capital defence clinic in Louisiana, New Orleans.
