Cheyne Beetham

Cheyne Beetham practices in both commercial and public law.

Cheyne began his career in 2010 as Associate to the Hon. Justice Barker of the Federal Court of Australia before moving to the State Solicitor’s Office where he conducted, ultimately as an Assistant State Solicitor, a wide-ranging public and commercial litigation practice.

Cheyne has particular experience in construction disputes, contractual disputes, claims under the Australian Consumer Law, and matters involving equity and trusts. In relation to the latter, Cheyne assisted in the preparation of the Report into the Njamal People’s Trust (Nov 2018), the first of its kind under the Charitable Trusts Act 1962.

Cheyne has appeared as counsel in the Liquor Commission, the State Administrative Tribunal, the Magistrates Court, the Coroners’ Court, the District Court of Western Australia, the Supreme Court of Western Australia, and the Federal Court of Australia. He has trial and appellate counsel experience.
