Andrew Mason
Andrew practises in commercial and public law. He has appeared in various Western Australian courts and tribunals, the Federal Court of Australia and as junior counsel in the High Court of Australia.
Prior to joining the bar, Andrew worked as a solicitor at the State Solicitor’s Office for Western Australia and as a senior associate at Herbert Smith Freehills and White & Case.
Andrew’s experience includes acting for corporations, government entities, and individuals in:
- commercial disputes in the energy, infrastructure, mining, and offshore oil and gas sectors;
- cross-border insolvency proceedings and insurance claims;
- regulatory proceedings for and against various regulators, including the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and the Australian Energy Regulator;
- applications for judicial review and merits review;
- class action proceedings;
- coronial inquests, public inquiries and royal commissions;
- unfair dismissal and regulatory proceedings before the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission; and
- complaints before the Equal Opportunity Commission (WA), the Australian Human Rights Commission and the Federal Circuit Court and Family Court of Australia.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and will graduate with a Master of Laws (Hons) in August 2024. Andrew has tutored in administrative, contract and criminal law.
