Profile

Alexandra Pieniazek accepts briefs on a wide range of general commercial matters, with a particular focus on high value, complex litigation in the energy and resources sector (such as royalty, gas, fuel and water supply agreements) and professional negligence claims.  Her experience has focused on trials in the Supreme Courts of Western Australia and New South Wales and appellate hearings in the Court of Appeal of Western Australia. 

Alexandra has acted for clients in the energy and resources, professional services (including top tier law firms), entertainment, real estate, property development, agribusiness and transport sectors on a range of disputes involving contractual, state agreement, corporations law, administrative law and equitable claims.  She is fluent in French and has represented clients in international arbitrations relating to projects in West Africa.

Alexandra began her career in 2010, as the research associate to the Hon. Justice Buss and the Hon. Justice Newnes at the Supreme Court of Western Australia Court of Appeal.  After a year on secondment to Anderson Mōri & Tomotsune in Tokyo, Alexandra commenced at King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) in 2012.  She became a Senior Associate at KWM in the Perth dispute resolution team where, in addition to working on complex litigation, Alexandra spent 7 months on secondment to the in-house litigation team at BHP.  Alexandra was heavily involved in KWM’s pro bono program and was part of the team to secure the outcome in Gibson v State of Western Australia [2017] WASCA 141 (criminal miscarriage of justice appeal).

Alexandra is currently enrolled part-time in the Master of Laws (LLM) program at the University of Melbourne.
