 Tenancy Arrangements

Chambers recognises that at times members may require flexibility in their tenancy arrangements. Accordingly, room- share and door-tenancy arrangements are available.

  • Room sharing applications will be considered where an applicant is pregnant, has the primary care of a child or another person, is prevented from working on a full time basis or can show special circumstances.

  • Door tenancy arrangements will be considered where a member’s situation warrants it. The Board will consider door tenancies for periods up to 12 months, with further extension if there are special circumstances. A door tenancy enables a member of Chambers to vacate an allocated room and continue to use Chambers’ facilities such as the library, receipt of mail and telephone calls, reception and conference rooms. Full tenancy can be resumed at the expiry of the door tenancy period without loss of seniority in Chambers.
