Chris has a broad practice focusing on administrative, civil and commercial matters with an emphasis on appeals. In 2006 he argued the High Court appeal in Klein v. Minister of Education regarding workers’ compensation. He was successful in a long running matter concerning the justiciability of disputes within political parties, Aust. Dem. WA Div. Inc & Anor v. Aust. Dem. Vic Inc & Ors (2002) 19 Leg. Rep. SL. 1. Chris appeared in the High Court in Jones v. Bartlett (2000) 205 CLR 166, a case dealing with occupiers’ liability in WA, and has obtained special leave to appeal to the High Court on several occasions. His practice includes equitable remedies and trusts which led to his involvement in Lloyd v. Tedesco (2003) 10 Leg. Rep. SL. 2 relating to the nature of constructive trusts.

Since 2005 Chris has served two terms on a part-time basis as an Acting Commissioner of the Corruption and Crime Commission concluding in 2010; he also served as an Acting Information Commissioner in 2007. Chris was appointed silk on 1 December 2004, he was Vice-President of the WA Bar Association between 2005-2007, and has served as a member of the Australian Bar Association’s Advocacy Training Council since 2007; he remains heavily involved in advocacy training both in Australia and overseas.
