Specialist in family law, international family law and medical ethics, including jurisdiction, recognition and enforcement, conflicts of laws and children's cases including parenting, status, surrogacy, abduction and relocation and disputes about medical treatment, including disputes about human fertilisation, embryology and surrogacy arrangements.

Formerly head of the UK child abduction unit and UK representative at the Hague Conference and Council of Europe, legal adviser to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and the British Medical Association. General Rapporteur of the 2006 Council of Europe Conference on improving children’s access to justice.
